Project: Wiki Text to HTML

Posted by Frank Schoep on 8th March, 2007 at 22:47

I've spent some time writing an online Wiki text to HTML converter. Use this tool to easily author efficient HTML pages like I use on my website. There's also source code for the PHP class that powers it and you're free to include it on your own site.

Site maintenance: server hardware upgrade

Posted by Frank Schoep on 8th March, 2007 at 21:58

If all goes well, I'll be upgrading the server hardware tomorrow, which is March 9th. I noticed the machine running out of RAM on a few occasions this week so a small memory upgrade will alleviate the situation.

On the more strategic, long term front I'm investigating the options of colocating some serious iron and hooking it up to a 100Mb connection. While it certainly is an interesting option I'm not taking steps to actively make this a reality.

Small update: the memory upgrade went perfect so don't expect any additional downtime this weekend.

Update: Octave Shifter version 1.5

Posted by Frank Schoep on 6th March, 2007 at 18:15

I've got my Macbook back from repairs and I've just implemented a new feature for the Octave Shifter Audio Unit, it now supports the Blackman windowing function. Get it while it's hot.

Site maintenance: visual keyboard shortcuts

Posted by Frank Schoep on 3rd March, 2007 at 16:12

Today I extended the site's visual and printing stylesheets to support the concept of keystrokes and keyboard shortcuts. This means that whenever you see a keystroke mentioned on a page, it will have a nice grey rectangle around it to separate it from the other content.

To see this in action, check the Inkscape Text Tricks, Restarting a Netware Server and the Macbook Clamshell Mode articles. Of course there are more articles sporting keystrokes, those have been updated as well.

Other than that, my Macbook is still in repairs and I probably will get it back early next week, but until I get it back I won't be able to work on most projects.
