It's been a bit quiet here at FFN lately, but I'm writing new articles and doing new projects for the future. Starting up Audiowish took a fair chunk of time and today a new Audio Unit called Note Gate 2 was released, you might want to check it out.
I've been planning and documenting a secret new project for months now and I'm working hard on getting it into releasable shape. You'll find it combines the information from a lot of my articles in a single product.
Audiowish takes over Audio Units

I'm pleased to announce that today Audiowish has taken over the Forever For Now Audio Units and will continue to renew and expand the Audio Units product line. A big word of thanks to all customers who had faith in these products while they were relatively unknown.
Site maintenance: server upgrade

Tomorrow morning around 11:00 UCT I will upgrade the server hardware slightly. This will be another upgrade necessary to accommodate the increased website traffic and number of services running on the server. If all goes well, this concludes the recent server migration and the hardware will remain untouched for the coming months.
Update: the server hardware has been successfully upgraded and all sites are back up and running.

Before migrating my new webserver to the datacenter I made sure to benchmark a lot of scenarios to try and find the optimal settings given the server workload. Today I finished the resulting article on benchmarking filesystems, noatime, PostgreSQL shared buffers and the APC PHP opcode cache. I hope you enjoy this article.
